Katsurao Yoshimori Appointed President and CEO of Mitsubishi USA

New York, NY – Mitsubishi & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. (“Mitsubishi USA”) announced that Katsurao Yoshimori has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer on April 1. Mr. Yoshimori will concurrently serve as Executive Managing Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Americas Business Unit of Mitsubishi & Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi USA’s parent company in Tokyo.


Mr. Yoshimori has built his career principally in the company’s chemicals division. He most recently served in Tokyo as Managing Officer & Chief Operating Officer of the Basic Materials Business Unit.


He joined Mitsubishi & Co., Ltd. in 1981 after graduating from Keio University (B.A. Economics). Early in his career, he spent two years in Italy under the company’s overseas trainee program (1983-1985) and another two years as a business school trainee at Harvard Business School (1991-1993). After obtaining an MBA degree, he moved to Mitsubishi & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.’s New York headquarters as Deputy General Manager of the Petrochemicals Division and the Chemical Project Division.


In 2000, he was appointed General Manager of the Bisphenol Group, Industrial Chemicals Division in Mitsubishi & Co., Ltd., Tokyo Headquarters. His subsequent roles were mainly in planning and administration of all businesses as well as managing various investment projects for the two chemical business units until his appointment as General Manager of the Investor Relations Division in 2007.


After spending two years as General Manager of the Strategic Business Development Division in the Food & Retail Business Unit, and another two years as Senior Vice President & Divisional Operating Officer of the Chemicals Division of Mitsubishi & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc., New York Headquarters, Mr. Yoshimori was promoted to Managing Officer & Chief Operating Officer of Basic Chemicals Business Unit in April 2014.


He succeeds Yasushi Takahashi, who is retiring following a two-year tenure in New York as Mitsubishi USA President and CEO.
